Project Information

This is and insert for my grand daughter's closet. I made one a few years back and she changed rooms and requested another one. I started on the frame thinking the closet was the same size and it is deeper so I made the shelves deeper and had them extend out from the frame so it fills the space. She is Ireland now so I'll surprise her when she returns

It is pine and finished with gloss white enamel.

Cheers, Jim

Nice build Jim. I love practical projects that folks are actually going to use on a daily basis. I am going to start building practical stuff someday…lol Great job sir.

That should do the job … I like working with pine, ya just gotta look for the pitch bleeds and seal them.

Thanks for all the kind words on this little project. In fact the shelves and top had 3" added on the back to make the extension. Some of the extensions had a dado running across them, but I put it on the bottom. This stuff was warping a little every hour it seems so I had to hurry and get it to the glue up point so It will hold.
Hi Mike. You are right about the pitch. I had the lacquer thinner out a lot cleaning up sticky spots. I don't use much pine and forgot about that

It is in the car ready for delivery tonight!

Cheers, Jim

Nice build Jim. Excellent save with the shelves extending out. A true craftsman can figure out what to do to correct mishaps.

Nice job Jim, I like the free standing modular approach, sure makes the install easier and provides more time for visiting.

Thanks Dave D, Bob, Joe Bob W , Roger, Candy, Randy, Todd and Cliff!!!

Hi Cliff, she got back from England and called and loves it. She has it full of shoes in boxes already!! I think she has as many shoes as I have T shirts…but not quite.

Cheers, Jim
