Project Information

My daughter is going to college for speech therapy and will be taking lot of notes. She told me that she could use a nice clipboard and sent me a couple of pictures she saw on the internet. Since my catch phrase is "I can make that"… I set about to making her a clipboard for Christmas. I was pretty happy with how it turned out, and so was she.

I have one of these on my to do list as well. Are the pieces just off center book matched or just close?

I ran the pieces through the planer in pairs. So the mahogany strips are the same width. So are the purple heart, but the purple heart aren't the same as the mahogany. The maple are all the same, so the board is symmetrical.

How thick is it, to avoid banding the board?

BurlyBob… thanks for the compliment. Majuvla…. it's about 1/4" thick. I was worried about balancing strength and weight. At 1/4 thick, it seems pretty rigid, but it's not bulky and heavy to carry.
