Project Information
I wanted to share with other WW's some of my ideas of how I build a candy dispenser that can be easily disassembled and cleaned. picture #1 is shows how I can make one style into a gumball or candy dispenser. Picture #2 is the machine disassembled. The front glass slides right out, the dowel pin in the back (picture #3) pulls out so the round shaft can be removed. Picture #4 shows the shaft close up so you can see the dado near one end. When the round shaft is installed the pin in the back sticks into this dado so the shaft won't pull out. I can take this apart in seconds for cleaning. Picture #5 is a different version. This machine has removable front and rear glass so the inside is easily cleaned and the shaft doesn't have to be removed.
These units are my earliest (prototypes) machines and after working out the sanitary issues, I now make these in many different design appearances. I use multi woods, inlays, and even make them in different shapes (like animal shapes). I have given them to relatives as gifts and sold them in craft shows with good success. I have even made one that has a spring loaded plunger so you have to shoot it up and it rolls down a maze like a pinball (picture #6), (this one is not totally my idea).
just remember to make them easy to clean, please.
