Project Information
Got er done in the heat of my shop.
The truck is done almost entirely of oak from a bed that I had built years ago but was no longer needed.
The main reason I built it was to make the mud tires got where I love to try building the different types of tires, I have no need for a tractor but the back tires look interesting so don't be surprised when one shows up. lol
Here is the blog for the build. http://lumberjocks.com/htl/blog/88290
Being just a square box thought this would be a breeze but the front end had some interesting twists that you needed to keep an eye on.
I deviated from the plans and made it into a pickup truck just for a change and really like this part of the build.
Got back into slat mod and cut grooves in all the pickup box parts to give it a different look.
Kind a has that plastic bed liner look to it.
I've read that the Hummer has a pretty rough ride so gave everybody a seat cushion and the driver a back rest.
Ducky said I should have given everyone a back cushion but just made enough for the seats and had just enough for one back rest so the driver won.
I love the bush guard and changed the grill so it had some depth to it, there's about 3/8 space behind the grill and the headlight.
Look back at the interior of the truck it's finished in natural Danish oil now look at the rest of the truck it's done in the walnut or dark Danish oil see how the oak grain really pops with the stain they added to the oil, really sets the oak off.
