Project Information
I saw a picture of a bear in a costume on the internet and it just kinda evolved from that to make the pattern.
I had fun with this one and added a real zipper on it to give it a little more life. One challenge I had, so that the viewer could understand where I was going with this was to make the bear look real and the costume to look cartoonish. I used A LOT of spacers to give depth to the feet, hands, and face. This piece is by far the largest I have made so far, measuring 2 feet wide by 3 feet tall.
Woods used.
Bear-wenge, walnut, mahogany, cocobolo, ebony, yellow heart, babinga.
Costume-aspen, cypress, cherry, curly maple, babinga, wenge, ebony, walnut.
Ball-yellow heart, blood wood.
Letters-spalted walnut.
Background and frame- oak, poplar, pine.
