This is the purchase that I made for my Christmas Present for 2010. It is Jet Wood Lath model jwl-1220 and of course the Delta tools to go with it. Now I just need to learn how to work it… So far so good… I think..
Oh, Lord, you'e in for it now. Woodturning is very addictive. Check to see if there's a woodturning club in your area. If so, go to a couple of meetings if you can. Bet thing I ever did. Check for turning classes at your local vo-tech. And, learn to sharpen your tools. Sharp tools are a must.
I have almost the identical DELTA one same size etc.It is great for pens and light turning as the motor at least on the Delta is not the most powerful ,and I have heard here on this site of someone who burned theirs out when taking heavy cuts on a bowl. That said you should have great fun with it.God Bless Alistair
Glad you are on board. I have the 1220vs model and really like it. Can't tell you how many times that I turned on the darn lathe with the index knob locked in….. The first time will scare the pants off of you. A great lathe. I just ordered the bed extention for mine. Look my projects over for some ideas of what you can run on your new lathe? Keep looking up.
