Oh, Lord, you'e in for it now. Woodturning is very addictive. :) Check to see if there's a woodturning club in your area. If so, go to a couple of meetings if you can. Bet thing I ever did. Check for turning classes at your local vo-tech. And, learn to sharpen your tools. Sharp tools are a must.

Nice looking lathe, working with the lathe is fun. But it can also be dangerous if you don't follow the safety rules. Yes it is very addictive making pens. I am jealous.

I have almost the identical DELTA one same size etc.It is great for pens and light turning as the motor at least on the Delta is not the most powerful ,and I have heard here on this site of someone who burned theirs out when taking heavy cuts on a bowl. That said you should have great fun with it.God Bless Alistair

Welcome to the Woodturners' world. If you haven't found out yet, you'll soon: there's too much wood, but too little time! Happy woodturning.

Glad you are on board. I have the 1220vs model and really like it. Can't tell you how many times that I turned on the darn lathe with the index knob locked in….. The first time will scare the pants off of you. A great lathe. I just ordered the bed extention for mine. Look my projects over for some ideas of what you can run on your new lathe? Keep looking up.
