Project Information

Well, those of you who have followed my past projects will probably remember I've made a couple similarly-purposed boxes in the past. This one was made for a friend who frequently comments on how much he likes one of the other ones.

The woods are walnut and maple (with a bit of oak and pine used in the divider system). Finish is natural Danish oil, followed by several coats of wipe-on satin poly. Overall dimensions are 14" x 9" x 6".

I usually complain about the outcome of my projects, but I have to admit to being pleased with the way this one came out. Thanks for looking.

It would be difficult to not be pleased with how this turned out. A most attractive box, Mr. Charlie. But then, I like your other boxes as well. You do good work.

Excellent, Charlie! You've given me some ideas of one I could make for my home group.

Also, you know I was just joking about the 'pigeon inlay'. That was also a nice project.

Have a biegnet for me !!

I can't begin to express how much I like this box. Your pattern is perfectly centered and your joints appear to be spot on. I love the finish Wonderful.

Fine birthday box, Charlie. That parquetry lid is…festive! You may end up bringing people into the fold whether they are a friend of Bill's or not - just to get to the chip ceremony.

Thank you all so much!

Chip, I could never make it as a pro if it meant turning out the same thing over and over. For me, the fun of woodworking is trying to make every piece unique.

Earle, don't worry…..I knew you were kidding. :)

Beautiful box, Charlie. You are truly a craftsman.
Do you use natural Danish often?
I use it quite a bit. It is a great pre finish treatmant.
