Quick project made from Poplar for my daughter's birthday. As much as I could, I tried to build it as a full size piece would be built. It is about 1/3 scale. The knobs are shaker pegs into which I drilled holes and glued in charms with initials for my daughter and her doll. I cut them off at about 1/2". You be suprised how difficult it is to drill a hole in the center of a shaker peg.
