Project Information

After making the previous towel and bag holder my wife decided she wanted one for herself. This is the same concept but with a rustic log cabin look. I made this one out of cherry wood. I cut the logs into 5/8" square pieces and then used a 3/8" roundover bit on all four corners. The logs are 5" long. There are 71 logs used in this project. The cherry was planed on one side and slightly rough on the other. I kept the rough side on the outside when glueing this up so the hairs of the cherry would give it log cabin look. The logs were glued up using TB-III. Cutting and rounding took a little bit of time because there are so many of them. The dimensions are the same as my previous one HERE). I hot glued individual wooden shingles made for dollhouses on the roof for added flavor. The rustic look was made by using my mini torch and "toasting" the sides of the logs and "blackening" the roof shingles. I finished the project with two coats of urethane which darkened the wood and brought out the country in it.

Jim,

You couldn't just settle for an ordinary paper towel dispenser could ya!!!!! With two of these you are becoming an expert in this type of build. :)

This is an extreme dispenser. Seriously you did a very nice job on this. The rough cherry and the singed shingles give it a rustic look. Very nice.

Thanks for the post. It was interesting to say the least.
