Made two of these bad boys awhile back, a blanket chest for a customer and a toy box for my daughter. They were identical. I went ahead and lined them both with aromatic cedar thinking that one day that toy box will become a blanket chest too. (Although by then it probably won't smell pretty no more.) The cherry had some nice figure, the photos don't quite do it justice. I used boiled linseed oil to try and make the figure pop more, followed by shellac, and then a poly top coat (or 6). Fourth and fifth pictures are of my daughter testing the "Lid Stay Torison Hinges" and it's overall durability. So excited to have found this site!!! Nice to know there's people as excited and as geeky about wood as me.
