The curly cherry is fine.
Great box and the miters and splines look good.

It all looks good, from the splines miters to the lid. Well done.

Thanks. I did a few boxes last weekend practicing because a friend has asked me to build an urn for his grandfather's ashes. He wants it done out of a particular dogwood tree from his grandfather's yard, and he brought me a few limbs from the tree a couple months ago. I processed the wood with my bandsaw, and it is now drying in the attic of my barn. Maybe this winter I may be able to start.

Beautifully done. The top is really eye catching. What did you use for the finish? Great project!

Thank you.
BB1 - The finish on this started with sanding to 220, then I applied a coat of tung oil, wiped down with steel wool, then sprayed on 3 coats of clear lacquer, sanding with #0000 steel wool between coats, then finished with Johnson's paste wax applied with #0000 steel wool.
