Now that is a great idea to put the groove in for the cover. I'm filing that one as an addition to the boar I made last month for my sweetie. Great use of the different species to add the visual interest. Thanks for the post and the idea!

Joe - very nice cheese board. I've been in to this smoked white cheddar lately. Great job on the board. I think your daughter will like it.

the groove, in conjunction with the design and wood grain looks like an optical illusion. Very nice piece. I'm sure "it'll do" ;)

Beautiful!

How did you make the off set recess for the glass dome?

I used a Jasper circle jig. Instead of drilling a 1/8 inch guild hole, I took a piece of 1/4 plexglass and made a 3 inch circle. I drilled a 1/8 inch hole in the center of it and fasten it to the board with 2 sided tape. I then took a small piece of plexglass and attached it to the front of router so it would sit flat.. now cut groove.

I had to come back for another look …thanks for answering my question : )

Another question for you …..How is the board holding up with all of the grain going in so many directions ?
