Project Information

My daughter likes to entertain and sets out a nice spread when she does. She mentioned that she would like to have something nicer than the plain cutting boards from the big box stores that she has now. So I went ahead and made her one. And of course being a woodworker I couldn't just let it be a simple board. Drawer under for all the "tools". Inset circles for the small bowls and a cut out for crackers. Hard maple salvaged from some urban trees cut down in the neighboring towns. All cut out with my CNC. Gave it quite the workout and went through a couple of carbide bits. The lettering was cut and then filled with epoxy mixed with brass power to give it a metal inset look. Finished with a salad bowl finish.

Awesome job. You nailed so many details - storage, holders, etc. Great gift!

Wow, that is one nice board, really like the little tray for the tools, and the cut outs for crackers and dips sets it off. Great job.

Thanks folks for the kind words. Pottz it's not stealing. Using other folks ideas and designs makes everyone a better woodworker. Unless you have created something and copyrighted it, and are selling it don't complain that other folks use some of your ideas.

This is the second one. The first didn't look right and wasn't balanced so into the scrap pile it went. We all learn. It's cheaper to learn from someone else's mistakes but sometimes we have to pay the price ourselves.
