Project Information

I documented this build on my YouTube Channel, please check it out!

I was tired of using cheap Walmart coolers, the lids would break and they would have to be set on the ground. I bought some cedar and headed to the workshop. Initially I designed it for a stand alone cooler but the for time being, I can put the cheap cooler inside and attach the wooden lid to the plastic lid. In another video I will document how I line it with insulation, seal it, and add a drain plug to make a stand alone cooler.

Please let me know below on what you would do to make this project unique. Would you paint it? Stain it? Add special hardware or a logo?

Thanks for watching!

Video is done… great build. I would try some wood burning

Thank you. Wood burning is a great idea. would you burn the whole thing or just parts of it? sand it away?

I would test it first but maybe just for accents… just the legs or panels.

I really like that. I couldn't tell for the video, but did you add a drain plug or just left the bottom open?

I ran some slats across the cleats that I attached in the video. When I line with insulation I will close the bottom off with a piece of plywood.
