Project Information

Here is a project for trial.

Observing the design on a gardening kneeler I was interested in trying to replicate the design on to wood.

Firstly there was the need to draw full size drawings of what was required. Then it was necessary to produce the necessary templates. To complete this sort of project material it is necessary to have a firm knowledge on the use of the template guides. This is not a project to be attempted in the Router Table IMHO, though I would be interested in anyone who may have achieved the results in the table.

The various template guides suitable for producing the shape in conjunction with the cutters chosen was an important factor on whether it could be achieved or not.

Holding the material secure was another consideration and I have developed my 'JIG HOLDER' for this purpose. Simply a rectangular box arrangement. The two template were also securely fitted in the 'JIG HOLDER'

Once the preparation was complete it was a simple matter of routing each stage.

Jim I should have asked the question. Are you into using the Template guides?

Great post Tom, thanks. Amazing accuracy on your design. I Like your holding jig too. It would also be useful for carvers. I'm with the others. I would like to know more.

If you have any qualms about posting pictures in a blog, I suggest you just take the pics and then ask for advice from members on one of the forums when you're ready to post them. It's easy once you know the steps.

Hi Tom, Awsome work. Your material hold down system (cams) is brilliant! I really like the way you fixture the workpiece. Thanks for sharing! I have many uses for that type of system. Hope you don't mind if I consider your set up inspiration!
