Pictures make it appear smaller, no matter stills looks real good! Mahogany, must be nice to work with pricey wood)

Actually it's Luan- I bought a big stack of 16' planks for ~$1/bf so it's not precious or pricey.

Sugoi! I have never seen a Japanese bench like this one before. Did the museum have an approximate year for it?

Don't know, I only happened on the website for the museum. Mine is based on Youtubes such as these, although these are mostly Chinese…

I'm a total fanboy for Japanese woodworking, but they are so precious sometimes.
I love these old Chinese guys and their work aesthetic.
"I'm going to literally dig up some lumber from the gardenand make a bench."

Actually it s Luan- I bought a big stack of 16 planks for ~$1/bf so it s not precious or pricey.

That deserves a big YOU Suck:) Used to get Red Cedar for $1/bf, had to haul it 900 miles!

Yeah, I agree. The guy in the last one might take the national mortising championship title.
The thing that bugs me is taking a perfect piece of wood, cutting it in half, and cutting a joint to put it together again, often as a demonstration of framing details.
