Project Information

The Candle stick is about 8 1/2 inches tall, wirh a base of about 2 3/4 inches diameter. I was told that the wood is Mahogany that is "Water Marked" due to it's prior use as a bearer that a shipment of wood was sat on, but looking at it…I'm not 100% sure that it is! It turned like Mahogany, but the grain pattern is far from typical for Mahogany. It was "rescued" from the scrap pile (along with some others, including some nice Redwood) by a friend. If this really IS the result of Mahogany being left outdoors to get wet for a while, I think I may leave a piece or 2 outdoors for a year or so….!!

Not sure on the wood myself. I have had Mahogany stained from getting wet for awhile but not anything like this piece.
You gave it a great profile and a nice finish!!! Like the burned lines too.

Thanks for the kind comments James. I have plenty of Mahogany right now, so may hide a few pieces down the bottom of the garden for a year or 2. ;-)
