Project Information

While camping in the Adirondacks a couple years back, we found a large deadfall Birch with the bark still intact. Needless to say, I was able to salvage two large pieces of bark, one which eventually became this sign.
The bark is glued to a piece of scrap OSB, the letters in local Maple branches and then stained with an oil base to help preserve them. I then wrapped the thing with a piece of scrap hemp rope and added a couple knots and lashings (still got a bit of salt in me matey). The little pines were also salvaged from a deadfall log of aromatic Cedar found, also, while camping at Taughanock Falls State Park! We campers are scroungers!

Hey Dado,

You go camping to get away from it all, right?

Then you start making stuff… I'm confused.

Nice sign.

Hey Dadoo,

I visited the Adirondacks this year and saw a lot of "Adirondack" furniture with all of the "twig work." It really is unique. I liked it. And, your sign with the birch bark and twigs fits right in. Very creative and nice.
