Hi there I am just about to start one of these as a present for a friend of my son. I have the ply apart from the front / tapa bit and I have a 11" drum snare. Would love some more details - dimensions and how you attached the snare. Like your feet.

I have built several of these. I have used rubber door knob bumpers as feet (Lowes). They grip the floor if you want to lean back on the drum. Also the snare I only use half of the springs. I cut them in half. I mount a block at the top of the drum with a forty five degree angle on it so the springs will be under constant pressure. I mount the tail of the springs to that block. Also mounting the springs high in the body will allow a distinct difference in the snare and base. hope this helps. Also use only glue foe the body and back. It takes a lot of clamps. But the less screws you use the better. The hole should be about six inches. I have came up with some neet hole patterns to use as well. They can be a work of art. I do leather tooling as well and have thought about wrapping one in leather.

Hardhead.. would love to see some pics of them and how you done the holes, i rebated the frame ,no screws used only glue , i mounted the snare with two 45degree cut blocks , ..screwed with one screw each side , then a 2×1 cross member screwed to each block to hold the snare , the snare system can turn easy on and off buy reaching inside and turning it, as the one screw in the each block acts as a pin.
have you done any with strings?
