This is a picture of the feature strip that I just love. Redwood sandwitches aspen. The rest is northern white cedar. Many of the boats I make are from red cedar that were once telephone poles in Duluth over 100 years ago. Cool hey.

The other picture isn't quite as pretty. As uncle Red says, "If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy."

Gotta love Red! Haven't seen that for some time though!

Great looking canoe! That aspen is really white! Nice contrast. You should post this as a project if you haven't already! Must be pretty light weight. How long are that one above and what does a canoe like that weigh?

How do you finish these canoes?

Hey Dorje. We've got lots of Norweigiens (You can tell I'm not one by the spelling) around here. I'm sure you've never been asked about your name.

The boat is 35lbs. If a guy wanted, he could get it around 30lbs, I'm sure. It's 13 feet long. A solo canoe. It's kind of a kayak/canoe hybrid. You can see more at Burlycanoes.com

I was through your neck of the woods a few months ago. Broke down in Yakima. Nice guy at the gas station helped me out. We're a litte too serious in the mid-west.
