I started this weekend shaping the carcass of the radio. I bought a 1"x6"x8' strip of red cedar that I like so much. I had some scrap walnut from another project. I have looked at a lot of vintage radios and have taken some design elements from others. For example, I like the look of the corners on this radio. So I duplicated that on my carcass.

I also like the skeleton look of these art deco radios from the 1930s and 1940s.

I also like the speaker screen so I found some of that material on Amazon and bought it.

So I am going to spend some time this weekend building a design for the front of the radio.

I am also spending time at night after work writing the software on the Raspberry PI and management tool for the radio.

Finally, made the decision to add an ethernet port to the back of the radio, so I have ordered all the needed parts.
