Thank you all. I was lucky to find this. I needed a strip of "sacrificial wood" so I split the first piece of firewood I grabbed with my hand ax. I run it thru the planer real quick and I was taken aback with the wood I viewed coming out of the planer. I am not sure how much of this I burnt, and I can not find any more in my wood pile. Not sure what kind it is.

I can see the tears running down your cheeks.
Man, that is an extraordinarily wonderful piece of wood. Looks a bit like Maple to me, but then how would I know.

I only see one problem with it…It's not mine.

Very nice piece of wood and a great way to show the
the grain and beauty of it off.
