I agree with Mike, you do have a cartoonist style. The images and style you have would go great on kid's furniture. I think what lacked on your color images was simply the boldness that a cartoon cell would have. If the board or project was sealed first and then the color was done you might get a better result. I think you should try decorating a toy box or kid's bookcase. Poplar and MDF or cabinet grade ply are not real expensive and those types of projects are simple and require few tools. I think that would be a great application for your talent.
