Showcase cover image for Box: hairy oak & blue gum

Project Information

Thanks very much LJ Ruddy for the instructions for your inset hinges.
I like the way these look and work.
But I did decide to "walk before I could run" and make them just square.
Maybe something more "interesting" next time.

The top-panel of this was a scrap I found in our bin. Filled the
bark-inclusions in with 3+ applications of extra-clear epoxy glue,
because I was too lazy to go get casting resin for the small amount.
The glue looks dark, not clear.

Sides I believe are blue gum, though not the construction-grade, more a
furniture-grade. Not quite precisely the colour of the hairy-oak's background,
so I put a tiny dark-brown moulding around the edges.

Thanks for the compliments.
I am SO embarrassed at mis-spelling 'gum' as 'gun' in the title. Ow.
Hope the word 'gun' wasnt why it got some attention.
Oh well. It was late.
