Project Information

Some new end grain cutting boards for wedding gifts.

I wanted to make something different and unique, and after hours of searching online, I think I can say these are one of a kind, and maybe the first of their kind.

The "bottles" are walnut and cherry, bordered by maple. Boards are about 12" x 18", 1.5" thick.

I learned a lot from this project, especially how much I need a router table. Trim routing from the template I made onto the cutouts was a little rough. And don't get me started on the template. Getting that thing perfect took a long time, if I could go back and do it again, I'd pay the $80 to have a template made from a CNC machine or from a 3D printer, it'd be well worth it.

Hope y'all enjoy, and I hope this inspires many of you as you have done so for me.

Thanks,
Forder

I must agree, I've never seen anything like it. And I bet that pattern had to be absolutely perfect to get the glue line to disappear.

Nice board. It is easy to see that the template must be spot on. No doubt a tricky thing to do.

Beautiful work. Has a neat "old world" kind of look about it.
