Great use of the "scrap" not sure why people call wood scrap. You can always come up with something to make out of all pieces of wood!

Good looking.

Do you find the silicone kits from Packard of higher quality than the lower priced ones from Craft Supply USA?

Jesse-Haven't used the ones from Craft Supply USA, but they appear to be the same as the ones from Packard, which are actually a little cheaper than the ones from Craft Supply USA.

Packard sells a pack of ten (both dowels and stoppers) for $8.95. Craft Supply USA, on the other hand, sells a pack of five stoppers for $3.25 and a pack of 5 dowels for $1.50, which makes the 10-pack from Packard marginally (55 cents) cheaper. Penn State also sells a 10-pack for $8.95 that appears to be identical to the ones from Packard and Craft Supply USA.

I decided to give the silicone stoppers a try after I watched a YouTube video by Dan Douthart (

I really appreciate Gwinnett Woodworkers videos … they post several each month, and I get a lot of good information from them. I am not a member, but I almost feel like I should be sending them dues since I get so much out of their club's activities.
