Project Information

May I joint the club?
A piece of left over wood has beautiful grain, I decided to make the simplest
project I can think of.
Size Thickness 20mm
Width 70mm
Center of hole to the bottom edge 200mm
Hole Dia. 40mm
One has 3 large insect holes that are filled with epoxy resin.

What kind of wood is it? Beautiful work.

The wood is Japanese horse chestnut ,
similar species in the USA is California Buckeye

That's some awesome wood species, is this just a wipe on poly? The finish looks good and it does not take away from the wood. Excellent.

The finish is with a mixture of Tung oil and poly diluted by mineral oil.
I am not good at finishing at all. As a matter of fact, I repeated apply / steel wool polish
probably more than 15 times with different concentration.
Salute to the beauty of this wood piece, I was very patient..
