So tell us how you shaped the sides. It's a good looking box and I, for one, would like to know how you did it.

Great looking box - good design, great finish.

Dusty65 - BLO is Boiled Linseed Oil - a very popular and efficient finish.

Very cool looking box.
I know what a pain it is to get all the sides coming out exactly where you want them to.

as has been said above. I like it. When something makes you take a second look you know you did something really right, or really wrong…LOL. You did good.

Thanks guys.

Lee - I joined the sides together 1st, then tilted my tablesaw blade a few degrees, set the fence and ran the long sides through, turned it upside down and ran them through again. I then removed the fence and used my mitre guage to cut the short sides. Afterwards I clamped it in my bench vice and finished shaping the sides with a #4 1/2 (the only plane I had at the time :).

For those who mentioned the choice of wood - I REALLY like the look of walnut with red oak. To me they just look like they were meant for each other.

Thanks for the nice comments.
