Project Information

Here's one of two chest I built for some friends children. The thought was hold their toys today and their treasures tomorrow. Mom wanted something they could take when they left home as well so… Here's a very basic chest with little ones in mind. Interesting story on the curly maple as is it was mixed up with the rest of the soft maple at the lumber yard shhhhhhh :) Anywho, here's some of the details it's about 36" long 18' high and 20" deep built from soft maple and top coated with about 4 coats of Arm R Seal. It went rather quickly, I think with only about 10-15 hours invested. I tried to keep the design pretty basic as it was mostly pro-bono work:( I am hoping to have the plans availible by the 16th or so. I will give you all a shout when they're ready.

Consider your design stolen. Beautiful work. My wife has an order in for two chests for our granddaughters. The wood is still drying, so time is on my side :)

Once again, take a simple design, good joinery and spectacular wood and you end up with a great piece.

This is a very nice look chest, RJ.

Ya know Don I think you are on to something there, you really have me thinking….
1. Finish
2. Wood
3. Joinery
4. Design

Funny thing on the dovetails is that I did them all with the Keller system, the system the you can't do different spaced dovetails with, LOL Sometimes ya just gotta do the best with what you have:)
