VERY NICE! I am looking at the visual process and wondering if it is left rough or sanded smooth? Since it is spalted why you choose to stain it instead of going with the natuaral color variations of the spalting?
Can you tell us more?
Only stopped here because I was scrolling through the projects vs. looking at the pages of projects. I find other LJ's do the full page view as well?
The chest is sanded smooth. The reason for the green stain is when I first saw the wood, it reminded me of grass or reeds. That is why I ran the grain vertically instead of horizontally. The spalting is still prominent. The images do not really do it justice.
Running the grain vertically presented its own challenge. the moulding around the bottom wraps all the way around. To allow for the expansion and contraction, I ran a dado around the chest in which the moulding sits.
