Project Information

A while ago I posted an "Anniversary Box" (http://lumberjocks.com/projects/129409) that I made for my wife last summer. I decided to use that as a project for the kids, because essentially it teaches how to make a door and a drawer, using the half-blind dovetail jig and raised panel door router bits.

The good [and bad] thing about student projects is that I get to [have to] make at least one every year as a demo. So this time around I decided to make one for my wife's friends who really like the band Black Flag. I engraved the band's iconic images on the lid, and a quote from Henry Rollins (lead singer) on the inside.

A new thing I wanted to try was using floor tile for the inside base. being that I just remodeled my basement, I have a bunch of cutoffs that are still pretty large, and being that I hate throwing things out I held on to them for reasons like this. The jury is still out on this one, I'm still not sure if I like how it came out or not….

All wood is oak, except for the top panel which is maple ply. Finished with Speial Walnut stain and 3 coats wipe-on poly.

Thanks for looking- Comments, questions, and suggestions welcome!

thanks guys, appreciate the compliments.

Gene the faux feet were a tip I picked up off of Boxguy a while back, fell in love with the concept and have used it on several boxes now
