Showcase cover image for BIRD CAGE

Project Information

Here is the second bird eye top box I made from the scraps of the first one .
This one is jatoba and birds eye maple finished in spray lacquer and bees wax mixture .
Again a easy build with the same construction method for the top panel except I mitred the outer strips .
No hinges or tray but a bottom liner and three balls to locate the top, works great .

Another handsome box!
You are so clever Kiefer! Scraps of scraps and up pop's another beautiful box! You make it so hard to pick a favorite. Let's see birds eye on the sides or on the top! I like them both but the first one is my favorite one!
Nice work going on in your shop!

Awesome design. How do you like working with the jatoba? I never have used it before but I did buy a jatoba board during my last trip to the lumber store so I could give it a go.

Beautiful box and excellent design, nice choice of woods just as your first box like this. I can't decide which one I like the best as they are both beautiful boxes…well done Kiefer.

I think you may have outdone yourself on this edition.
I love Jatoba and that maple has more eyes per square inch than I have seen.

Thanks guys
Yes this box design turned out nice and I really like the lid myself ,it's a great way to use up those little pieces that I just can not throw away .
The lid is a bit of work but well worth the time .
I have several other ideas for lids and will make more gift boxes now that I have the time and lots of little pieces stored up .
There will some of those soon ,I am in the shop a lot and loving it.

Thanks again and I am glad you are enjoying it with me .
