Project Information

This Project was made by my very good but computer challenged friend Bill Barkley of Fresno California. This Life sized replica has approximately 300 hours of work into it. Bill uses many tools power and hand to make this type of design. He has sold many of these at the Tamson Munger Gallery He will gladly take pre orders for these or similar Hummingbirds. The entire project is made of wood the plant is hand carved from wood and is Painstakingly assembled and then finished with Paints to resemble a real plant The bird its self is three pieces the glue joints are invisible. Bill is a disabled Veteran of the Vietnam war where he served as an Officer and Platoon Commander in the United States Army. Bill is also an accomplished woodworker in all aspects of the craft from furniture making to cabinets to things just like this. I asked him if I could post this for him he was reluctant because he is very modest. However I was so taken with this piece live that I had to photograph it. I used the 12 mp Nikon with a 15 75 lens and used no filters to soften it what I tried to do was to capture how good it looks live I hope you all love Bills work as much as I do. Cheers Lance and Bill

I can understand how you are moved by it.
To see such a powerful piece of art imitating life can be overwhelmingly daunting.
Cheers to both of you !!!

Very pretty! I've been feeding the hummingbirds at the river cabin and at my dad's house this year. He is 82 and amazed with them right outside his kitchen window all day long. Well, me too actually. Love this piece! I'm glad I took the time to look at it! Thanks for sharing!

The detail in magnificent as you can see the texture of the feathers! We have a lot of those Hummers around our house and my wife fills the feeder almost on a weekly basis!

As far as being on a PC at advanced age, my dad used his lap top until he was 90 but he had a lot of help and it was his best method of keeping in touch with his far flung relatives and family!

... did you ask? LOL (for a brand)...

It has to survive the outside winters & summers… yes?

... or do they require painting every 2-5 years??

Joe, these are fine art pieces that sit under a glass dome. They are not yard art.

It sure looked like it was outside to me… over a bird bath, etc.

Thank you.

Nice work!
