Project Information

I needed fenders on my bike. My options were to spend $40 at a local bike shop, or spend $25 online and have to wait a week for them to be delivered. Neither were acceptable. Took about an hour and a half from start to finish using scraps. I started by cutting out some cardboard templates from an empty case of New Belgium. I ended by putting on a thick coat of shellac. It may not be pretty, but at least I'm not covered in grit and water, and I money to buy more beer.

(Smile) With that flat surface on top over the back wheel I'd install a bottle holder or two for my fav refreshment….

Unique.
I have enjoyed re-purposing materials.
Never pay retail.

Right -on.

If it works go for it.
I did something similar for my utility trailer. Metal fenders for that would have cost even more.

I like it a lot, if it meens more money for beer I'm all for it!! Lik Red Green sez, " I'm uh man, I can change, if I have to, I guess! AMEN.
Or as I always say, " I'm just heer for the beer "

You were inspired by the New Belgium beer? Funny. Have you ever done their Tour de Fat? I live in the same town as New Belgium. If you haven't, it is a celebration of bikes and beer. You dress up in costumes of whatever the heck you fancy, then ride (very slowly because of the thousands and thousands of people, at least here in Fort Collins) in a parade. Crazy fun stuff. I am digging their Spring Blonde right now. Good beer!

Diggerjacks, yes, I made one for the front. It is just a piece of ply clamped to the post. You can see it in the one pic.

Josh, no, I haven't done Tour de Fat. Some friends of mine have. I've been the the New Belgium brewery a few times, though.
