Big Shooting Board

Here is the shooting board I made. It is big enough to accommodate a cello plate, overall length being 4 feet, the large base is what one might call Masonite, which I claim to be wood, at least as wooden as paper anyway… and is real slippery, so the plane moves nicely. The raised portion in the center is white pine from the HD with an inlaid Incra T-slot. The boards to be worked are butted up against a piece of 1/4" baltic birch ply with two stacked pieces of old band saw blade to keep things from slipping, and clamped on the back using the nifty little Incra clamp thing. It clamps down real hard, so I had to add the thick rubber to keep things from getting all marred up. There's a little hook to hold it to the bench; it's made of a scrap of cedar I had lying around. It appears to be both left and right handed, I'm not sure why but it seemed like a good idea at the time, I guess I'll find out in the future. Now for the pictures:
