Project Information

This project is made out of my two favorite woods. The box is Hedgeapple aka (orage orange, or Bois Darc). The raised frame on the top is mesquite. It measures 18"w x 10"d x 5 1/2"h. The wood was resawed out of the other half of the log shown in the picture. I made the drawer box out of a salvaged pallet. It is finished with linseed oil. The last picture is of the box before I put the oil on it.

I really like that pegged finger joint. I can't say I've ever seen that before. The overall look of the piece is fantastic.

Very original piece, good looking and plenty of room, You doing the process from log to finished product makes this project even more impressive, thanks for sharing

Thanks for the kind comments. Bertha,I pin my box joints when they are really tight after dry fit and have had no problems. The first time I did this I had dry fit some pretty fragile wood and was afraid I would break a piece off if I tried to separate it.I also use long trim head screws to pin some box joints.I also glue some box joints.
