Workshop Information

Location
Belgium
Over the years, I have collected a range of hand tools and machinery, and I have transformed part of our two-car garage into a workshop. It's not ideal, but when the cars are out, the 6×8 m space is sufficiently large to work comfortably, even on larger pieces. My main equipment is a combination machine (table saw, jointer, thicknesser, shaper and mortiser), a 3400 mm band saw and an old Myford lathe, next to a range of hand power tools (circular saw, plunge router, orbital and belt sander, drill,...). Among the hand tools, I've had a lot of pleasure using Japanese pull-stroke saws, and the tool I favour most is the bronze Lie Nielsen N°4 bench plane I bought some time ago - expensive but a joy to work with.

Hey Bernard. Great shop. Always wanted to visit Belgium. Maybe one day soon. Do you go to watch the pro cycling that happens in your part of the world?

Hi Bill, thanks for you compliments. Saw your miter station: very neatly done, and I have to admit your shop looks a lot tidier than mine :).
I'm not a sports fanatic, but when there is a race nearby then I occasionally go watching. It's usually quite spectacular and draws a lot of spectators. And yes, Belgium is definitely worth a visit, lots of nice places, history, and good chocolates and beer too!

I like the planes… nice collection.
The shop looks great, looks like it is capable of a lot of work.

Do you have heat?
