Project Information

Hi guys, Im excited to show my recent project.

I was given the wonderful opportunity to contribute a few pieces to a benefit auction. A family we know was raising the last of the expenses to adopt two children from Haiti.

I was also really excited to find this gorgeous piece of Birdseye Maple (best part is was in there common stack of hard maple and I got it for cheap).

The cutting board is a mix of edge grain (Jatoba) and face grain (to show off the maple)
It is just about 16"x12" and 1.25" thick with clear rubber feet that make it stand at about 1.75" tall

To pair with it, I made a simple wine holder in Jatoba as well. (nice quick project)

The other wine holder is Purpleheart and Maple and it was added to a gift basket that others contributed to.

I was asked to give an average price of the board to list on the description at the auction. I almost exclusively give my woodwork as gifts so I agonized over what I should say.
After debating about it I listed it at $60. The organizer changed it to $100 and it sold in the auction for $180!

I was honored to be able to be a part of their adoption journey!
