Project Information
I made 5 benches like this from some trashed white oak pallets. Cleaned up the oak ended up being
a 1:7 slope, the holes drilled same angle. such that the hole on one side of the stretcher shows a half circle and the other side shows more than a half. the tennons on the top of the legs clamp the top tightly when the wedges are driven in. So the entire bench can be lifted and moved around. the legs are positioned very close to the ends so that if a person sits right at the end it doesn't flip up and hit him in the back of the head.
I can put out a sketch-up dwg if anyone wants it.
I used a router for all of the joints except the locking wedge hole. that I made an angled drilling block on my drill press and then used a portable drill with the block.

Code:
1" thick.
As you can see they are KD but could be glued up permanently, I needed them to lay flat for storage and transportation.
they are held together by 2 dowels (1") that have a flat taper sawn on on one side using a jig on a bandsaw.
