Project Information

This is the first woodworking project I attempted in quite some time, I managed to get my hands on some nice beetle kill pine, mostly 2×12 in 10-12' lengths. So I kept it pretty simple and put together a desktop with a keyboard slider. I used steel pipe for legs, which took a couple coats of black oil paint and a poured epoxy finish on the top. Had a lot of fun and the family even likes it which is a bonus!

Very cool!!! I love the look of that BKP. Your use of the metal to make the legs works so great with the top. Like the lamp on the desk too it all work together great. AND bonus points with the family = new tool purchase for another cool project.

Great desk, Would love to work with some of that wood. Nice design bringing in the pipe. Looks great. The finish on the top a great!

Like others I would love to hear more about the lamp. How does it turn on and off? Did you some way tie it into the valve. What kind of fitting did you use for the bulb. That thing is cool.

Hey Ken,
Thanks for the interest and kind words, yes the lamp turns on and off with the valve, it's tied into a standard click on, click off switch I found on Amazon. The bulb socket is just a compression fit into the fitting.

I see you have a steampunk lamp. Did you make that?

Hi Rich,
Yes I did. Took a little figuring out, but I got to work with the switch wired to the hose valve handle.
