Project Information

We wanted to give our group of friends something to have for our annual trip to the Renaissance Festival with the kids. Last time we were there we wanted beer mugs but were too expensive to buy, so why not try ourselves. Each stein is a mix of wood and has cedar, padauk, aspen, lignum vitae, poplar, maple, bocote. After cutting 12 degrees and using a rope to tourniquet the wood tight and letting the glue set overnight. From there its all using the sander to round out the outside and using my oscillating drum sander to do the inside. After sanding using dowels and relief holes we attached the handmade handles. Coated with salad bowl finish. Each holds over 64oz. Made 7 total, now using the scrap ends to make some 16oz pints, coming soon….. wow my hands are tired from sanding.
