Project Information

The last two items to complete my lovely wife's special request of a new bedroom suite. The dressing bench, and shiplap head board.

Dressing bench is made of straight grain SYP (southern yellow pine) painted and the top is cherry with Kona stain. This took a couple full days to complete, and my wife loves it.

Headboard is just MDF frame with pine shiplap primed. The headboard is not particularly complicated I used preprimed1by 6 MDF and 1 by 3 MDF, with primed pine shiplap from Lowe's. It took 1 1/2 hours from start to finish.

I have included the finished bedroom suite. Now the wife wants curtains

I like the look of the ship lapping, fine work!

The "X" bracing on those pieces looks like you shouldn't have to worry about any racking…..ever 8^)

It all looks really nice. I especially like those cup pulls on the drawers of the bedside tables.

The bracing was actually thinned down a bit from the original picture. My wife had pinned a pic on Pinterest of a rustic painted Nightstand, I think we all know the rest of the story.

With out the braces it was plenty strong, but we put the braces in anyway.
