Project Information

The Oct/Nov issue of Woodcraft Magazine had an article on building a toy beaver. I made two of them out of cherry with birch and cherry pegs. The finish is a coat of BLO. The article had great directions and full sized patterns so it was easy to follow. I assembled one to insure that my mechanism worked properly and it did with no adjustments. Sometimes details are had to translate in these projects but this was not the case here.

I think the pictures are self explanatory but they include an overview, head close up, tail close up, body, underside mechanism, and the Prince playing (mostly chewing) on the it.

All in all a fun project.

Great choice of wood. And I'm glad you showed the little one with the toy. Made me smile. Plus, I couldn't tell the scale until that pic. Well done. :)
