Workshop Information

Location

As a hobbyist and a tinkerer, my shop is a bit eclectic, cluttered, and just the way I like it. Shop space to me is like your living room. A personal space that's intended to be not only functional, but comfortable as well. My shop takes up most of my basement, with cutouts for a nice remodeled bath room I did this spring, laundry room, and utility/storage rooms.

Some aspects of my shop that I like are that it is insulated, carpeted, bright, warm in the winter, cool in the summer.

Some aspects I dislike are the low roof, odd layout, and those teleposts in the middle of everything.

Ok so the last one isn't from my shop, just one of my gizmos for a haloween event I take part in.

This is an interesting shop that you have to work in. It looks like you have a lot going on in there. I like the idea of a carpeted shop floor. This is something a that is not often done but it looks like it works pretty well. It is much easier to work on carpet as opposed to concrete, I am sure. And being able to work year round in comfort in there is a huge bonus.

You have a nice set of tools to play with as well. And it looks as if you have organized them well.

Thanks for the pictures. I enjoyed visiting with you.

Low roof, you aren't kidding! I guess no worse than working under a canoe…

Great selection of tools to work with there! That jointer looks like a Central Machinery 6", but I didn't think that Harbor Freight was up in Canada. Do they sell them under a different name up there?

Thanks for the comments, Yeah the ceiling is low, about 6'2" for half and 7' for the rest. At least I don't haveto duck, but I've put a few nicks in the ceiling tiles moving lumber around.

Good eye dbhost, it is a Central Machinery jointer, just in the 7" flavour. For that one I drove down across the line to get. Even with gas money it was much cheaper than anything I could have bought here. It's been serving me fine for years now, and have only been happy with the choice.

As far as the X-mas tree goes… okay you caught me, for me it takes less space to put the whole tree in the storage room versus taking it down into boxes and storing them. A big time saver too.
