Storing batteries can be very dangerous, especially 9 volts. 9 volts are particularly dangerous because they have both the + and - terminals right next to each other. This can cause these batteries to easily contact something conductive and heat up extremely fast. This extreme heat has been known to cause a fire and do some serious damage. I built the storage unit to not only help in the safety factor, but also to make it easier to know your battery inventory and ease of finding the right battery I need.

Now this is cool! You are lucky you store them all in the drawer… I have 3 spots I have to check. This is definitely going on the list

Question, are you concerned about the cross grain situations?

Blacklab, you have to be aware and take the correct building steps to allow for the expansion and contraction of the wood, especially the back panel. That is where all the "major" movement will come from. I used glue on all of the bottom of the panel and screws at the top with elongated holes to allow movement in the screw.

Great idea. I have a spot for all my rechargeables but it takes up valuable desk space.

Another thing to add to the to do list.

The holder is cool. But I switched to rechargeable years ago, one of the smartest decisions I've made. They are way cheaper and take up less space because you only need a couple extras.

Me too but I do not have good luck with 9V batteries. Energizers with a couple of MAHA digital chargers and they last a very long time.
