I built this vanity from knotty alder with a wenge countertop. The door stick and cope bit profile is the Freud Shaker set, and the side panel is raised with a Kreg 45º angle bit that's made for their beaded face frame system (which I don't have or use) that works perfectly for this application. The base is stained with General Finishes Colonial Maple gel stain and a topcoat of wipe-on satin poly to match the interior doors I built for the house. The wenge countertop is quarter sawn giving it a beautiful fine pattern of black and dark brown stripes. I finished the countertop with three coats of Waterlox Sealer/Finish, followed by three coats of Waterlox satin urethane. Both were wiped on, and the result is very durable and water repellent.
The door panels are latillas from Spotted Owl Timber in Santa Fe, NM. I think they are juniper, but I honestly don't recall. We went looking for salt cedar latillas, but got these instead because of their color.
I installed it before the tiler did his excellent job of tiling around the back side panel and countertop, so it has a nice built-in look like it belongs there.
The walls are done in American Clay, which my wife applied. It's has a nice, hand-troweled look to it.
