Project Information

Some friends gave me some very old barnwood (a true 1"x12"). I didn't have a pattern, but rather an idea of what I wanted these to look like. I ripped the top pieces into narrow strips and created a herringbone pattern, but also wanted to incorporate the bark somewhere in the tables…...and this is the end product. I shot 2 coats of Polycrylic on them which really brought out the character and colors of the old circular sawn lumber. I accented them with the cast iron rusty stars and drawer pull.

Great use of reclaimed wood and rusty stars, they go together well.
Unique use of the bark to accent the saw patern.
We don't have any of that white stuff around here to show off our projects. (snickers)

Nice design and very cool how you created the herringbone effect. The bark inlay is a nice touch as well.

Non-woodworkers must think we are pretty wierd inlaying stone, bark, or metal into wood.
I get it.
I like it.
Job well done!
