Project Information

A couple years ago I was asked if I could build a barnboard mantle around an existing timber that wasn't particularly useful, except to display pictures. The goal was to build it out to have room for a big screen tv to sit. I was asked for mitered corners and to wrap the mantle around and extend to the wall. Was near impossible to find a piece of wood for the left side to make for a clean miter. The other side was perfect because the front and right side were cut from one continuous board. In the end it was strong enough to support me hanging from it, so I'd call it a success. A fun little challenge.

What an improvement. You really dressed that ugly rail road tie looking log up.
