Project Information

Hello LJ's!
I am so busy these days with shows and carvings that I've rarely had time to spy on you. I mentioned to a few of you that I have sold all but two of my carvings and never before have I not had some type of inventory to sell so I'm burning the candle at both ends trying to whip some up, which, as you know, ain't quite that easy.
However, I'm having a good time and carving for near sales keeps me more ambitious than carving for potential sales some day down the road.
Boy, did we get hit with a blast of winter! I haven't felt -40 degrees for about thirty years and I was reminded of why I loved BC so much. But it didn't last and even -5 feels like spring so now we have been warned what a winter storm advisory means.
I've made 5 cast miniatures to go with this bare back rigging and to try some cold cast bronze powder. It works quite well.
I've also just completed my 2nd painting - a bit different than the horses but I want to try all styles before I decide what type of painter I am.
Laura and I hope you are all having a happy holiday and keeping warm out there in the shops across the cold states and provinces.

For the life of me Jordan, I just can't understand how you do it. You have all the talent. That is great…. When I show a picture of what you do and tell someone it's a wood carving - well, no one wants to believe it. Wish I had some of your talent.

Jordan, you indeed have a unique talent. There must be some special connection among your eyes, your brain and your hands that permits you to translate what you perceive into a piece of art. Wish I had a trace of that kind of connection. Keep up the good work.

Looks like you can be any kind of painter you want to be. It sure would be a waste of talent to be a house painter ;-))

Wow Jordadn - that carving is amazing. It certainly moves the motivation along a bit, as now I want to go out into the shed to try my bit.
Oh yes the painting- beautiful as always, very serene and inviting.
You know I think paintings sell far easier than woodwork and people are prepared to pay top dollar for them too. A friend had done some pastel paintings that were 'just ok' , they only took her a few days to a week to complete and she was selling them for $300 or so. And we all know how long it can take just to make something small and presentable in wood. I am sure we couldn't sell our projects for that much even if they took tripple the time to make!

Nice to hear from you folks again - a few days away and I feel like it's forever.
Theresa, you're so right and I just can't figure out why paint is so much more precious than wood - if only the masters had been WOOD carvers!
Rowdy, that about sums it up and to tell you the truth, whatever the gift is, it surely didn't come from ME!!!
Jeff, you wouldn't want that darn arthritic little finger, maybe the thumbs now that they took the bones out.
Thanks you guys, you keep me inspired!

Is the Invisible Man wearing the glove? Cause it sure looks like there is a hand in there! Love the painting too.

Hello Jordan,
About the situation that your stock runs out, maybe it is a sign for price increasing, it will make a balance between the supply and demand :)
