Project Information
We moved house earlier in the year, and we had to replace the floor in our upstairs entry room (you could push your finger through the woodworm infested floor), and the (ultra cheap) mahogany banister just didn't go.
We were looking for something that would sort of match the floor, and we came up with this - I had a bit of an end-grain fetish at the time (I've sought help, but there seem to be no support groups for this addiction, and it's not covered under my medical insurance), and we came up with this.
We quite like it, and, importantly, it's way solid.
Made from the same pine tongue and groove floorboarding, with a lot lot lot of sanding and glue.
Oil/wax finish.
That "antique dust" finish is really hard to apply evenly - any tips?
